If you remember us, which we know you do, it’s easy to know how much this Canadian electronic duo has soundtracked the best moments in our lives. Rien de moins; Thank you.

So it wasn’t without a little apprehension and nostalgia that we downloaded and plugged in Big Black Coat, their latest opus and yes fifth LP. Rest assured, dearest, they’ve held on to their promise of brilliant, unforgettably stellar sounds.

While all the songs are gorgeous and perfect for happy nice friday sparkling coquetels’ - wearing say, Dior sunnies? - for us, one really hit home and encapsulates the album. ‘C’Mon Baby’ is JB at their most whispered bedroom sensual circa Last Exit, while the music is vast Caprice En Couleurs at its finest. So put on those Beats x Dre and see how the song abruptly turns to fuzzy cavernous romantic techno at the 3:36 mark. Pure bliss. And then of course the lyrics:

“I held you in a different light
And I dream of you again last night
C’mon baby

You were real and you let me in
When I fell upon your lap you said
Well c’mon baby…”

Our apprehensions were ill founded, c’est clair. Still, the nostalgia seems to linger on more than ever…
