NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SOME PALE IMITATION OF THE LEGENDARY ROCK BAND, we are referring to french designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Like Jean-Paul Gauthier before him, the Marquis will be headlining this year’s Montreal’s Mode & Design festival, starting July 31st to August 3rd.

As the casting call for models to be part of his show roars on as you read this, he promises a show that mixes fashion, art and music. Given his inclination for the wild & unique such as teddy bear coats worn by the likes of Madonna and supermodel Helena Christensen and a Lego-inspired watch among many other fantastical designs, we can bet our bottom dollar this show will be a brilliant showcase of his long enduring creativity and possibly of his current fall Foxy Lady collection, which features a dazzling array of eye-popping prints.

“…today, fashion is art and art is fashion.” Said JC/DC in an interview for the gazette.

Indeed, it’s like he took the words right out of our mouths. Fashion, is but another form of art, with it’s rules, taboos and dogmas which are, we believe, in the end, always meant to be broken. And with such a premise this year’s festival will surely keep on that promise of mixing the old, the popular, the new and the innovative to our hearts delight.
