Following the direction he took for his Spring/Summer collection, Haider Ackermann showcased a Fall collection that was about layering, silhouettes and strength. The parts we enjoyed the most? The oversized pieces, the extended (sometimes hiding the hands!) sleeves, the menswear-inspired silhouettes (what else!?!); those full-legged pants in thick wool we could wear to work, that houndstooth jacket we could wear to keep our body warm and that tunic, twisted and folded in a specific manner we could wear to dinner. The fabrics, think here tweeds, jacquards and leather, mixed with the designer’s tailoring skills, is where the collection got its strength. Oh, and that collarless fur coat? We’ll take the brown and light-grey version, please! And ladies, don’t forget to layer. Coat over coat over suit? Dare you?! Dare you not! The more (layers), the merrier.
