Milan’s Fashion Week (#MFW is you follow us on Twitter!) kicked off this weekend with its Menswear Spring/Summer 2013 collections. Needless to say that it was hard for us to stay away from iphones and computers, as we were really anxious to see the runway pictures!

As we were following the presentations, we realized that we enjoy menswear as much as we enjoy women wear… even maybe a bit more!!

Just like we did for Resort 2013, we thought we’d share with you our thoughts on our favorites!

Carven – The presentation itself was a fantastic mise en scene; in a middle of a soccer field, guests were seated and treated to a five-course meal while models walked around. One might think that staging a show this entertaining would take away from the clothes… But designer Guillaume Henry knew quite well what he was doing! The collection was playful, young and refreshing, mixing casual elements with businessy ones. We personally liked the mix of prints and neutrals, and the boyish look: tres summer!! Take note the socks with the short shorts!

Already big fans of Carven for women, we are now obsessed with its men’s collection!

Costume National Homme – A safari theme with a modern twist is what Ennio Capasa gave us for this collection. Playing wonderfully with volumes and layers (the layering is quite perfect!), the designer made use of amazing fabrics such as silk and leather (who doesn’t love silk! We surely do!) while the use of metal embellishments gave us that punkish vibe. We love the neck scarves; another great way for men to accessorize! And we have a feeling we might be sharing those striped pants! Note that the Gladiator sandals seem to be making a comeback, time to take those babies out of the closet – again!

Neil Barrett – Admirers of Neil Barrett for quite a while, we were not disappointed to see what the designer came up with for this collection. The urban-sportish vibe (you know, those baseball caps and loose basketball shorts!) gave a bit of casualness… and then there was the tailored eveningwear! What was quite interesting was the introduction of leather by the designer. We love the prints (especially those streaks of color, which almost gives up a paint look!). One look even reminded us of one previous post: the pyjamalook!

Dolce & Gabbana – Debuting their kids’ collection alongside Spring/Summer menswear (because who said there was any age to be stylish?!), designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana gave us quite a collection! Stripes and Sicily-inspired prints were a big part of the collection (and we always love a man in prints!!), mixed with belted shorts and trousers. We love the oversized shirts and jackets.. Some pieces reminded us of the clothes of the good old days… Maybe it’s time for us to go digging into Nonno’s wardrobe?!!

Gucci – What can we say about Frida Giannini’s collection except that we LOVE the color palette! The designer went all out with flying colors, which makes us feel like we’re lost in Pantone Land! We always love a man in prints, well; we also love a man in colors!! We personally really like the double-breasted blazers over slim trousers!

And of course, the footwear! Every look was completed with the house’s iconic loafers (which, by the way, are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year!!).
